FAQ's

I'm afraid therapy will make me feel worse, is it still a good choice for me?
The thought of going to counselling can understandably feel overwhelming and daunting. None of us want to feel worse than we already do. With proper techniques to identify emotions and thought patterns we can create an individualized therapeutic experience. EMDR, Mindfulness & Meditation are powerful ways to process. We often end sessions with empowerment and grounding techniques so you can leave feeling confident about moving forward.

How will counselling help my anxiety and depression?
We will identify unhelpful thought patterns and where anxiety and depression come from to help you regain control and competence.
Through modalities like CBT, EMDR, Mindfulness and Meditation and Parts Work we can reduce symptoms, build resilience, and improve emotional regulation. Understanding how the brain works can make it an ally rather than something to constantly manage.

Do you provide trauma counselling?
Yes, we use a variety of tools to help understand and process trauma and triggers. I am formally trained in many modalities including EMDR, Parts Work and Mindfulness & Meditation to support your experience.
Do you offer stress management and proactive sessions for mental health?
Definitely yes! Proactive therapy is one of the best things you can do for overall self care. We have many tools and techniques for stress reduction. This is also a great option for those wanting to manifest or create something new in their life. By using motivational interviewing techniques and accountability, we focus on where you want to go, what that looks like and if there's anything holding you back from reaching your full potential. We can also work from an educational perspective on the psychology of how our brain works.

How does CBT help with Anxiety?
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that provides a clear framework for understanding and overcoming anxiety by changing how you think and act. It starts by identifying negative thought patterns, challenging the validity of those thoughts and replacing them. Then we work on behavioural techniques and coping skills to strengthen the new thought patterns.
What is EMDR?
EMDR therapy operates on the principle that trauma memories are stored differently from other memories, making them difficult to process but easy to trigger. During treatment, you choose a distressing event while simultaneously applying bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements or hand tapping. This combination helps your brain process information from the past while incorporating new perspectives, such as recognizing that you are now safe and that the traumatic event is over.
