But wait there's more...
I grew up teaching myself how to play my favourite rock and roll songs on the guitar. My fascination with martial arts and human potential took me to another level of applied Eastern philosophy. A love of golf took me to "putting" myself through my first University degree by working the greens and teaching golf lessons in Kelowna. I worked as a community Social Worker for over 20 years before going back to school to complete my masters at UBCO. My mother still enjoys telling the story of my 2 year old self writing E=mc2 in yellow crayon on the walls of my family home. You may currently find me playing live music, playing a round of golf, skiing, watching science fiction and walking our mini Shar Pei around the neighbourhood.
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Masters of Clinical Social Work from UBC. After graduating with Honours from the UBCO Bachelor's of Social Work program, I worked throughout BC and Nunavut in the field of social work and counselling for over 23 years. I've always had a natural interest in hearing people's stories and understanding humanity. I have formal training in Mindfulness & Meditation, Motivation Interviewing, Trauma Informed Practice, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, EMDR and Research & Evidence Based Practice.
I approach sessions through a lens of cultural safety, recognizing your individual needs in discovering how you've come to this place in your life. After setting a foundation together, we focus on awareness, assessing needs, emotional regulation, motivation, personal growth and healing. We can also choose techniques and skills that you can bring to your daily life.
I incorporate inspiration and knowledge from physics, Eastern philosophies, ancient texts, poetry and land-based practices.
I look forward to collaborating and supporting you while you create possibilities for your life.
